Nus Ghani, MP for Wealden, recently visited The Barn Centre on London Road in Crowborough, a specialist care home supporting people with learning disabilities.
The Barn Centre is part of Baronsmede Family Homes, a group set up in 1985 to provide services for people with learning disabilities. The Barn Centre is one of several homes across East Sussex that provide specialist support.
Nus Ghani, MP for Wealden, said: “I was delighted to visit the Barn Centre and see the excellent work the team do providing specialist services for people with learning disabilities.
“Across the UK, there are 1.4 million people with learning disabilities, and it’s great to see local initiatives like the Baronsmede Family Homes providing high quality, specialist and personalised support.
“Earlier this year, I held a Disability Confident event encouraging businesses to think differently about hiring people with disabilities, and I was pleased to see local businesses rethinking their outlook on people with learning disabilities.
“I’d like to thank everyone at the Barn Centre for their hard work. They provide an invaluable community resource, a safe home and life skills for both men and women”
