Wealden MP Nus Ghani recently met with Jesse Norman MP, the Minister for Roads, to discuss the state of vital Wealden infrastructure.
Nus and Jesse discussed the A21, A22, A26 and A27, vital trunk roads that serve her constituents all across Wealden, as well as other important issues on our roads including cycling and potholes.
Jesse set out the investment that has been made in East Sussex and Kent roads that Nus’ constituents use on a daily basis, which has included £70 million on dualling the A21, and £75 million on upgrading the A27 east of Lewes.
Further local growth fund projects in Wealden include £1.4 million infrastructure road at Swallow Business Park near Hailsham, £1 million to improve the junction of the A22 and A27 north of Polegate, as well as £6.6 million package of investment in cycling and walking schemes across south Wealden.
Nus Ghani, MP for Wealden, said: “It’s absolutely vital that the roads across Wealden continue to receive the investment they need.
“My constituents depend on them to get around the constituency and the entire south east of England, so I was pleased to see that Jesse Norman remains committed to supporting the region.
“I know Wealden District Council and East Sussex County Council have been working closely with the Government to ensure that connections in Wealden continue to improve.
“Potholes remain one of the biggest issues to my constituents, and it is very welcome that the Government continues to provide additional funding for pothole repairs, with more than £175 million invested over the last year.”
