Nus Ghani, MP for Wealden, continues to host virtual advice surgeries for constituents, in place of her regular face to face surgeries during the Coronavirus pandemic. Daily calls to residents continue to cover the peak in casework and help with urgent cases and crisis support, and advice surgeries are best to deal with non-urgent requests for advice and representation.
Nus Ghani said: “The best part of my job was meeting people face to face and making a positive difference to their lives, but COVID19 has meant that emails, letters and phone calls are currently the only way. Not all local residents are keen to Zoom or have the bandwidth to manage online video calls, but I am determined to keep access and lines of communication open to the most vulnerable. We have had sound progress on support for local businesses with grants being managed by local council, extension to the furlough scheme, fast tracked support for the self employed, and the easy to access Bounce Back loan scheme has helped ease the pressure for many. The Government has also delivered in excess of 1.5 million food boxes to the clinically vulnerable, the most significant effort of its kind since the Second World War. If you need help or support, please do get in touch.”
If you are a Wealden resident and require Nus’ assistance, please email nusrat.ghani.mp@parliament.uk for casework or visit her website www.nusghani.org.uk for information regarding Coronavirus.
