I have thoroughly enjoyed students from schools across the constituency such as Uplands, UCTC and Hailsham Community College, joining my team in Westminster for work experience over the past few years and will be running the Ghani Ambassador Programme again this year.
The week-long programme involves working with myself and my team in Parliament where students get the opportunity to gain an insight into the day to day work of an MP, attend debates and Select Committee meetings, as well as learning skills such as how to debate, prepare briefing documents and monitor campaigns. The hands-on experience concludes with a day in the constituency where the students join me on local visits and meetings to learn about my work in Wealden.
I will be writing to all Wealden secondary schools in the Autumn with further details of the Ghani Ambassador Programme and how students can apply. I hope that the experience will inspire and encourage the students to consider a role in public service and look forward to more Wealden students joining me at work soon!
