All water supply is being restored to Wealden residents.
The two bottled water stations in Mayfield and Sparrows Green in Wadhurst will close at midday today.
A temporary hosepipe ban remains in place until further notice to help rectify the water supply issues. Read more about what restrictions are in place here.
Update from South East Water, Monday 19th June 2023:
All our customers affected by last week’s water supply problems now have full water supplies again. Demand for water reduced considerably over the weekend due to a combination of the Temporary Use Ban (hosepipe ban) announcement, as well cooler, cloudier and wetter weather over the weekend.
The two bottled water stations which remained open yesterday in Mayfield and Sparrows Green will close at midday today.
We are repairing a number of burst water mains across our network this morning which are being handled as business as usual and further updates can be found on our In Your Area Map on our website.
We will be writing to customers in the coming days to apologise for the problems and explain how compensation will be handled, but essentially payments will be made directly to customer accounts, they do not need to contact us.
MY STATEMENT:
“South East Water have failed yet again. It seems that the weather is never right for them to cope with demand as we were in the same situation just last Christmas. After days of urging South East Water to help with the appalling situation by introducing a temporary hosepipe ban, I am pleased that they have finally done so. I know it is not what all local residents wanted, but this measure will increase water supply to Wealden customers by 10%. It is unacceptable that our care homes, schools and farms in particular have been left without water for days on end and I will be enquiring about the South East Water’s emergency plans to deliver water to them, and about their plans for compensation.”
