Nus Ghani has sought assurances from Southern that they will schedule ten-car trains on the Uckfield line during strike days. Southern have also confirmed that they will increase the number of services running on the network during the week commencing 3rd July.
Nus Ghani has been appointed in the new Parliament as the Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Home Office. As a Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Home Office, Ms Ghani will serve as a link between Government Ministers and backbench MPs.
Last Friday the independent Gibb report on the Southern Rail Network was published. The report covered the woeful service on the Uckfield line and made two key recommendations that support Nus’s campaign to improve the local train service.
Nus Ghani has added her name to the British Beer & Pub Association’s list of MPs who are supportive of brewing and pubs in the UK. This sector is a major contributor to both the national and local community, with pubs and brewing accounting for almost 900,000 jobs across Britain.
On Thursday 15th June I swore an oath of allegiance to the Crown. This process – known as ‘swearing in’ – dates back to the Promissory Oaths Act of 1868 and all Members of the House of Commons are required to participate before they can take their seats in Parliament.
