Nusrat Ghani MP and Horam Councillors Susan Stedman and Bob Bowdler with Age We Care Horam Day Club members.
Wealden MP Nusrat Ghani, has visited the Age We Care Horam Day Club to meet their members, volunteers and staff and to learn more about the work they do in Wealden. On her visit Nusrat was joined by Wealden District Councillors for Horam and Punnetts Town, Susan Stedman and Bob Bowdler.
Age We Care Horam Day Club offers a day of fun, entertainment and companionship for older people living in the village and it's surrounding area, and offers activities such as games, quizzes, gentle exercise, music and craft. It also offers information and support.
Age We Care Horam Day Club is open on Tuesdays and Fridays between 10am and 3pm at Christ Church hall in Horam. Many of the clients have physical challenges, and some have varying levels of dementia.
Nusrat Ghani said: “It was a pleasure to visit Horam and meet the fantastic volunteers who help run the Day Club. I’m aware of how difficult the pandemic and periods of lockdown have been for our elderly residents and their carers.
"The Day Club provides a fantastic opportunity for older residents to meet other people, make new friends and have fun in a safe and happy environment.
They are always looking for volunteers to help, as well as people who would benefit from coming to the club, so please do get in touch with them if you are interested in joining.”
