Nusrat Ghani, MP for Sussex Weald, is pleased to support Volunteers’ Week 2025 and highlight the hard work of local volunteers.
Volunteers’ Week is an annual celebration of the contribution and dedication of millions of volunteers who give up their time to help others. The campaign usually takes place from the first Monday in June, and is this year running between Monday 2nd and Sunday 8th June. Launched in 1984, the initiative has been providing a platform to thank current and past volunteers for their invaluable efforts, and highlighting the diversity and unity of volunteer work across the UK.
Since first elected in 2015, Nusrat has been working closely with many local groups and charities powered by volunteers, whose hard work and dedication provides vital support for communities across the constituency and makes a difference to thousands of Sussex Weald residents. To name just a few, these include MAYFACS, Carillon Cottage in Wadhurst, Rotherfield St Martin, Hailsham’s Medi Tech Trust, Crowborough’s Artytime, the Whitesmith-based East Sussex Wildlife Rescue & Ambulance Service, Brighter Crowborough and Brighter Heathfield, Ashdown Radio and Hailsham FM, Horam Community Garden and others.
Nusrat is pleased to also be working closely with Wealden Volunteering, who are a prominent and long-established local charity matching individuals and groups with available volunteering opportunities and providing free advertising for organisations and businesses looking to fill volunteer roles. She is always championing local Volunteer Fairs, the most recent of which took place in Horam in March. For more information, visit www.wealdenvolunteering.org.uk.
Nusrat Ghani said: “We are incredibly lucky to have so many fantastic charities and volunteers in Sussex Weald who give up their time to make a difference to others. I am hugely grateful for everything they continue to do for our communities and Volunteers’ Week is a great opportunity to take a moment and recognise their efforts. I’m pleased to be supporting Wealden Volunteering, who are a superb local resource for advertising available roles and coordinating volunteer availability. If you have some spare time and feel inspired to get involved, please do get in touch with them.”
