Nusrat Ghani, MP for Wealden has joined her Parliamentary colleagues from across Sussex in an annual celebration of Sussex Day on 16 June.
The event takes place on St Richard's Day, the feast day of St Richard of Chichester, Sussex's patron saint. The date marks the anniversary of the translation of St Richard's body from its original burial place in the nave of Chichester Cathedral to an elaborate shrine at the cathedral on 16 June 1276.
Sussex Day provides an opportunity to recognise the importance of this beautiful and historic county and celebrate all it has to offer.
The official Sussex Charter was traditionally read on the terrace of the Houses of Parliament and and the Sussex flag was flown.
