Wealden MP Nus Ghani took part in a mentoring event organised by East Sussex County Council, alongside female leaders from across East Sussex to mentor the next generation of female leaders from a wide variety of sectors and industries.
The mentoring session was part of a series of events celebrating the centenary of women getting the vote for the first time and took place at the Civic Centre in Uckfield.
Groups of future female leaders spent about 15 minutes with each of the mentors in attendance, where Nus talked about her journey to her election as the MP for Wealden and a Minister in the Department for Transport.
Other mentors included Becky Shaw, the Chief Executive of East Sussex County Council, Katy Bourne, the Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner and Sarah Driver, Owner of the Rathfinny Wine Estate.
Nus Ghani, MP for Wealden, said: “A hundred years on from women getting the vote for the first time, it was a pleasure to join so many inspiring future female leaders and share my experiences with them.
“We need to get more women into all aspects of professional life, and I hope that I encouraged a few more women to get into politics.
“I’d like to thank everyone at East Sussex County Council for organising such a successful event, as well as all my fellow mentors – there was a great range of experiences and I’m sure all the mentees had a productive and enjoyable afternoon”.
