Nus Ghani, MP for Wealden, is backing the wonderful carers across Wealden and East Sussex who make an invaluable contribution to the livelihood of ill, older or disabled loved ones.
This week, Monday 11th to Sunday 17th, is national Carers Week, celebrating the 6.5 million unpaid carers in the UK - one in eight people in Wealden provide some form of care for loved ones.
The Carers Week campaign is supported by eight major charities, and this year is supporting carers across the country to be healthy and connected, building communities that support the wellbeing of carers. More information can be found on the Carers Week website at www.carersweek.org.
Nus Ghani, MP for Wealden, said: “Cares make such a wonderful contribution to the livelihood of so many people across Wealden.
“In Parliament I have worked with various groups to back and support our fantastic carers, including as a former Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Ageing and Older People, and in Wealden I regularly visit and work with care homes in Uckfield, Hailsham, Crowborough and the surrounding villages.
“Carers week is an important campaign to raise awareness of the support available to millions of carers who sacrifice so much for their loved ones. The wellbeing of carers is all too often forgotten, so I am delighted to see this initiative spreading the word of the help available.
“I’d like to thank all of our carers for their hard work and dedication – your contribution cannot be overestimated.”
